Psychedelics & the Fundamentals of Embodied Trauma Healing:
A Somatic Approach to Psychedelic Care

Trauma is a universal human experience, often influencing those seeking healing through psychedelics. Informed and compassionate care is essential to ensure these transformative journeys are supportive rather than re-traumatizing. Through experiential learning, dyad practices, and reflective exercises, participants will explore trauma's complexities, its emergence in psychedelic states, and the essential somatic, emotional and relational tools to create a safe, healing environment.

This 4-week course with Atira Tan, "Psychedelics & the Fundamentals of Embodied Trauma Healing. : A Somatic Approach to Psychedelic Care," offers practitioners a deep dive into trauma-informed principles, somatic practices, and relational skills crucial for psychedelic facilitation to heal trauma in the body, mind, heart and spirit.

The course emphasises the importance of embodied wisdom through the client's inner healing intelligence, guiding practitioners to align with their values, ethics, and inner wisdom as the foundation for holding space. Whether you're an experienced practitioner or new to the field, this course will equip you with practical tools and insights to deepen your capacity for trauma-informed care, ensuring safe and transformative experiences for your clients.​

Atira Tan

Atira Tan is a dynamic TEDx speaker, author, and globally recognized trauma specialist and activist, celebrated for her transformative work with individuals and communities affected by sexual abuse and complex trauma. As a somatic trauma educator, she has guided countless women, men, and children toward healing, both in her private practice and through impactful therapeutic and educational groups. 

With over two decades of experience in international development, Atira has been a trailblazer on the frontlines of humanitarian work, from refugee camps to disaster zones, and among survivors of war, torture, and trafficking. Her advocacy for women’s rights and reproductive health has been groundbreaking, particularly in her work with sex-trafficked survivors across Asia and the Pacific. 

As the founder of Art to Healing, Atira has spearheaded initiatives that have empowered thousands of survivors and their communities, fostering freedom from trauma, slavery, and oppression.

Driven by a deep passion for bringing light and healing to life’s most tender and challenging spaces, Atira is the Director of Preparation and Integration at AYA Healing Retreats. She is also the heart and visionary behind the groundbreaking Trauma-Informed Plant Medicine Facilitator Training and the Somatic Plant Medicine Integration Practitioner Program. These transformative programs have empowered over 1,000 graduates, raising the bar for safety, ethics, and compassionate care in the psychedelic community.

Atira’s expertise has shaped psychedelic-assisted therapy and facilitator training programs globally. She collaborates with leading organizations, including ICEERS, Plant Spirit School, Inward Bound, Tam Integration, and Synthesis, where she serves as a faculty member. She also co-directs the Somatic Psychedelic Facilitator Certificate with The Embody Lab.

Singapore-born and Melbourne-bred, Atira now resides between Europe and Asia, as she advances her Ph.D. research at EGS in Switzerland. Her work continues to inspire a new generation of healers and advocates dedicated to trauma-informed care and the integration of plant medicine into modern therapeutic practices.
