José Carlos Bouso es Psicólogo Clínico y Doctor en Farmacología. Desarrolló su actividad científica en la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, en el Instituto de Investigación Biomédica IIB-Sant Pau de Barcelona y en el Instituto Hospital del Mar de Investigaciones Médicas de Barcelona (IMIM). Durante este tiempo, desarrolló estudios sobre los efectos terapéuticos del MDMA (“ecstacy”) y estudios psicofarmacológicos sobre los efectos agudos y neuropsiquiátricos a largo plazo de muchas sustancias, tanto sintéticas como de origen vegetal. Como Director Científico de ICEERS, José Carlos coordina estudios sobre los beneficios potenciales de las plantas psicoactivas, principalmente el cannabis, la ayahuasca y la ibogaína, con el objetivo de mejorar la salud pública. Es coautor de numerosos artículos científicos y de varios capítulos de libros. También es miembro del MARC (Centro de Investigación en Antropología Médica) de la Universitat Rovira i Virgili de Tarragona, profesor visitante en el programa de salud mental de la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de São Paulo en Riberão Preto, Brasil, y vicepresidente de la Sociedad de Endocannabinología Clínica (SEC).
José Carlos Bouso is a Clinical Psychologist and PhD in Pharmacology. He developed his scientific activity at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, at the Instituto de Investigación Biomédica IIB-Sant Pau in Barcelona and at the Instituto Hospital del Mar de Investigaciones Médicas de Barcelona (IMIM). During this time, he developed studies on the therapeutic effects of MDMA (“ecstacy”) and psychopharmacological studies on the acute and long-term neuropsychiatric effects of many substances, both synthetic and plant-derived. As Scientific Director of ICEERS, José Carlos coordinates studies on the potential benefits of psychoactive plants, mainly cannabis, ayahuasca and ibogaine, with the aim of improving public health. He is co-author of numerous scientific articles and several book chapters. He is also a member of the MARC (Medical Anthropology Research Center) at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili in Tarragona, visiting professor in the mental health program at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo in Riberão Preto, Brazil, and vice-president of the Society of Clinical Endocannabinology (SEC).
Elias Capriles. Dzogchen teacher, philosopher, metachamanic facilitator and transpersonal psychology theorist. Elias has experientially researched psychedelics for many decades. He founded and managed two Spiritual Emergency Shelters (Swayambhunath and Anjuna Beach). He received all the Dzogchen transmissions and practiced that teaching in successive three-month retreats in the Himalayas. Later, he deepened his study of philosophy at two universities and produced a philosophical and psychological system based on Buddhism and Dzogchen, with an ecological orientation and an egalitarian tendency in social, economic and political matters – all expressed in many books, academic articles and book chapters-. In Mérida, Venezuela, he helped found the Ecologic Coordination “Arturo Eichler” and participated in political ecology activities. He taught at the Universidad de Los Andes (Department of Philosophy, Chair of Oriental Studies, Africa and Asia Research Center) until his retirement, and has lectured extensively at multiple universities in Europe, America and Asia. He currently teaches Dzogchen in multiple countries, both within and outside the International Dzogchen Community. He is a board member of the International Transpersonal Association and the Iberoamerican Transpersonal Association, as well as participates in various academic journals in several countries. His work has been discussed in philosophy books in France, Spain, Mexico and Venezuela, as well as in the Journal of Transpersonal Psychology.
